fast forward a few years...and this is our life now. we are making the move to washington d.c. for two years because steve has been given an amazing opportunity to work at the pentagon. it's actually a pretty amazing opportunity for our whole family. we'll get to enjoy all the sights of the big city then we'll return to our sweet desert home in two years. {thanks to Mrs. McDonald, Evan's first grade teacher, for the set of cards pictured above that will help us on our journey}.

i am packing little by little everyday {thankfully i was freshly showered for this picture, because that is not always the case}. we managed to clear out tons of junk, i mean stuff, in the garage and all around the house to make for a pretty good yard sale this past weekend. and now we're working on tucking away all the non-essentials.

it made me sad to have to take down the frames that have lined our den walls for so long. they are filled with the kids' art, my running medals/bibs, pictures of my nieces & nephews...these are the things i hate to have to leave behind. we anticipate leaving on the 23rd to trek across the country in good ol' sally {that's the 4runner's name if you didn't know}. wish us luck and send the good vibes this way, because i sure could use them while i'm buried in boxes and wrapping paper.
