making progress...we have been slowly checking off our list of things to do before leaving:
sell steve's car- check
sell plasma t.v.- check
kids' physicals & dental check-ups- check
friends to help move furniture- check
and while we've been making steady progress, we stalled for a couple of weeks with finding a renter. and today, all things aligned for us and we were presented with two within an hour of each other. so, i'm happy to say, we have secured a renter for the house {insert happy dance here}. of course as most things work around a small town, it was solely from word of mouth. i went for a bike ride yesterday and on the way back saw my neighbor heading out to walk his dogs. i gave him our "we're moving" story and told him if he knew anyone looking for a rental, our house was available. then this morning his wife is at the door saying her boss would love it and is ready to make a deposit. i'm floored because she hasn't even seen it. she calls later and says that as soon as her boss is done seeing patients, they will stop by during lunch. and that's it, we are set. what a blessing to know the house will have such a nice person to care for it while we are away- check.
making peace...
i am surrounded by boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, lists, post-it notes, and other odds and ends. but it's okay. even when i think it's not...it's the kids who remind me to take a break and find a happy place among the mess.
