Even before our furniture arrived, our first visitors landed at Dulles International Airport. My older sister, Rowena, and her daughter, Sophia came for a short visit. Why so soon? Rowena's a teacher, and is returning to work this week, so she wanted to get a visit in before it was too late.
After getting the furniture in and running around to Target, Home Depot, Wal-mart, Comcast, etc., we were able to enjoy a little bit of sightseeing the following day.
First stop was the Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles. Behind Steve & Evan in this photo is a Concorde. Between the ages of 4 and 5, Evan was obsessed with the Concorde. He knew all about it and would constantly ask me to pull up video with the Concorde in it. He'd hang on to his little metal plane and still has it at home in storage. He doesn't know as much about it now, but I was glad that he finally got to see a real one in person.
On the next day, we put all the household duties aside and spent a day at the National Mall. We went to the Museum of Natural History. It was pretty busy there and I felt like I was on rollerblades trying to soak in so much. I'll definitely slow down our pace there next time {so happy to be able to have a next time}. All the same, we enjoyed our first official visit to the National Mall.
Our visitor roster is only just beginning. Next up are Steve's parents, then Labor Day weekend we can expect my parents and Aunt from Florida.
So, thank you Rowena & Sophia for being patient and enjoying yourselves despite the craziness. We loved having you and look forward to your next visit!
